Kiritampo Festival - Akita

A festival of kiritampo (grilled rice sticks) that is held in Odate-shi, home of Kiritampo. It is one of Akita Prefecture’s representative food events, and was held this year for the 45th time. A Honba Odate Kiritampo grand prize and other events are held, and there are also kiritampo booths set up so that participants can enjoy genuine kiritampo nabe (rice stick hot pot) made using Hinai chicken soup, miso-flavored tampo made by dipping the kiritampo in miso and grilling them over a charcoal fire, and original tampo dishes. You can also try your hand at making kiritampo in a mass kiritampo-grilling challenge. You might even catch sight of the costumed kiritampo mascot characters “Ponta” and “Kiriko” at the venue!
