Bicchu Takahashi Matsuyama Odori - Okayama

It is the largest Bon dance in the prefecture taking place over three days, bathing the street in front of JR Bicchu-Takahashi Station in color. There are two types of dances. One is an elegant style called “Jiodori,” which is said to have been started by townsfolk at the beginning of the Keian era in 1648 to pray for bountiful harvests and the prosperity of machiya houses, while the other is the spirited style called “Shikumi dori,” said to have been started by warriors in 1744 at the beginning of the Enkyo era.
