Shimizu Port Festival - Shizuoka

Shizuoka’s main summer event, Shimizu Port Festival is held for three days in August with dancing and other performances held in the Shimizu-ku. On the Friday and Saturday of the festival, dancing is held on Shimizu Satsuki dori in the center of the city, with approximately 10 thousand dancers taking part in the Minato kappore so-odori dance and about 1,300 performing the richly atmospheric Yukata odori and Jiodori-shu dances. On the final day, the main venue shifts to Hinode Pier for a fireworks display on the sea of roughly 10 thousand fireworks. During the festival, the naval destroyer is open to the public and the exhibition of the Japan Self-Defense Forces equipments is held at the pier.
