A major festival of Kanuma’s Imamiya Shrine said to have originated in the Edo period. Every autumn, as many as 27 wooden yatai floats featuring gorgeous carved decorations on all sides are paraded through the streets of Kanuma City. These were built by carpenters and sculptors involved in the construction of Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
