Sendai Aoba Festival - Miyagi

Sendai Aoba Festival is an iconic spring festival in the castle town of Sendai.
The evening festival features Sendai Yoiyamaboko, where wheeled festival floats lit up with paper lanterns parade in a lively fashion along Jozenji-dori Avenue from evening until night, as well as the Sendai Suzume Odori (sparrow dance) by all participants. Don’t miss the traditional “Sendai Kiyari” singing, which was revived from the 30th festival. At the main festival (Hon Matsuri) on Sunday, the Sendai Jidai Emaki Junko is held, which includes a procession of 11 gallant yamaboko festival floats and samurai warriors along the streets of Sendai, which are lined with fresh green zelkova trees.
