The Yosakoi Soran Festival, started in 1992, has its roots in the Yosakoi Festival of Kochi Prefecture, and is a blend of the Yosakoi Festival’s Naruko clappers and Hokkaido’s soran bushi folk songs.
Dancers wearing colorful costumes and Naruko clappers showcase wonderful dances set in Sapporo’s Odori Park to the melodies of soran bushi.
The festival has grown into an event with 27,000 participants in 270 teams, and about 2 million visitors. The festival extends beyond the boundaries of regions and generations and aims to bring excitement and energy to people and the region.
