It is the largest Bon dance in the prefecture taking place over three days, bathing the street in front of JR Bicchu-Takahashi Station in color. Two types of dances are continually performed in the venue: one is an elegant style called “Jiodori,” which is said to have been started by townsfolk at the beginning of the Keian era (1648) to pray for bountiful harvests and the prosperity of machiya houses, and the other is the “yatosaodori” started by locals at the beginning of the Showa era. There is also the spirited “Shikumidori” style said to have been started by warriors at the beginning of the Enkyo era (1744).
