Yosakoi Festival - Kochi

The Yosakoi Festival is a Tosa carnival held every year on August 9 to 12 at ten competition venues and six dance performance venues around Kochi City, with approximately 200 teams, roughly 19,000 dancers, performing in thoughtfully designed costumes and with wooden naruko clappers in hand, and elaborately decorated Jikatasha trucks.
The dancers perform to a wide variety of music, from traditional pieces to rock band performances. The festival never lets the crowd get bored, with dance styles ranging from samba to rock and to classical.
