Yama-age Festival - Tochigi

With a history of around 460 years, the Yama-age Festival is held each year on the 4th Saturday in July, including the Friday and Sunday on either side, and features a magnificent open-air kabuki performance that is without equal in Japan.
There are so many wonderful aspects to enjoy, from the “Karasuyama Yama-age Festival” itself, which was inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016, to the graceful dancers and the teamwork of the young kabuki actors!
