Naha Giant Tug of War - Okinawa

The Naha Giant Tug of War is the largest cultural event in Okinawa with a tradition dating back to the four towns of Naha in the Ryukyu Kingdom. The tug of war originated as an event by local farmers to pray for rain and a bountiful harvest, but in urban areas, it came to symbolize the trading town of Naha. The main event of the Naha Giant Tug of War is spectacular and certified by Guinness World Records as being the largest tug of war in the world.
