Otateyama Festival - Nara

During Nara Otateyama Festival, four giant floats associated with the four guardian gods that are important figures in Nara will parade around Daigokuden (the former audience hall) in Heijo Palace Site, by locals and local high school students pulling the floats adorned with lanterns at night.

Other local traditional events are held at the festival. The Nara Otateyama Festival is a start of several lantern events and becomes one of symbolic events in Nara. We hope many people including tourists to grant their wishes for good health and family safety through this festival.
